What training do Exemplacare carers receive when they start?
All of our carers attend a 2 day new starter training course at the beginning of their contract with us. The 2 days cover all the mandatory training required to ensure the carer is trained to the standard to deliver an outstanding level of care.
All new staff also attend a half day Basic Life Support course and a half day Moving and Handling course, all provided in-house.
The carers then commence a 10 shift shadowing programme visiting clients with our experienced staff. All staff follow a competency programme and need to be 'signed off' in all the relevant areas. Once the carer, the trainer and their line manager feel they are ready, they are then able to start visiting clients on their own. Staff are also monitored regularly and joined on visits by their line manager or an experienced member of staff.
We also have a new start support lead who is on hand to answer any 'new starter' questions. This member of staff generally looks out for all new staff and ensures they have everything they need to commence the role from uniform to help with rotas!
Does ExemplaCare offer external training?
Exemplacare has recently commenced an in-house training programme for our own staff. This is to train our new starters and also support current staff with continuing development. We also now offer ALL of our courses externally.
